Is your hair dry, course, or brittle? Is it lifeless or does it just need a little boost? If you answered yes to any or all of those question then this is that “angels singing in unison, AHHHHHHH!!!!” moment you’ve been waiting for! You are about to learn about the cheapest, healthiest, easiest, salon comparable way to keep your hair looking healthy, soft, shiny, manageable, and just plain fabulous without going broke!
There are a couple of ways to achieve the enviable, lush locks you are looking for but I will start off today with my favorite-
Organic unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil and Sunflower oil!!

Typical conditioners generally soften the hair shaft with chemicals and smooth the cuticles which adds shine and gives the appearance of healthiness but in all actuality is doing NOTHING for your hair. Coconut Oil does this also, but instead of only creating the appearance of healthy hair, it actually does help with hair and scalp health and helps to repair your damaged hair! It is also an antimicrobial, among other things, which controls the fungus causing dandruff! Some say it also promotes hair growth!
Sunflower oil is the second common base oil used in the hair oil industry and it’s no surprise why. It’s non-freezing properties and it’s odorless-ness at ambient temperatures makes it an ideal candidate for hair care. Sunflower oil acts ans an emollient which has a softening effect.
High-end spas often use coconut and sunflowers oils in their very expensive hair and scalp treatments.
How it works-
Coconut & Sunflower oils are very lightweight in comparison to other oils. They’re absorbed by the hair, filling up the hollow shafts, and adding body and bounce. Vitamins E and K found in coconut oil nourish hair and boost it’s health and shine. It also protects it from damage (by reducing fiber swelling). Coconut oil was actually found to reduce the protein loss remarkably for both undamaged and damaged hair when used as a pre-wash and post-wash routine.
How to use-
I use the mixture as a PRE-shampoo to avoid greasiness. You can do this as often as you’d like. I personally, do not wash my hair without doing this mask first.
Apply to dry hair until it is completely saturated. I start with the coconut oil first and if my hair is looking super rough then I coat it in sunflower oil after I put the coconut oil on.
For MAJOR damage, wrap your head in a scarf and leave the mixture on your hair overnight
For day to day damage, leave in for one hour.
Blow drying your saturated hair or applying a hot towel to it can also help the oils soak in faster which will leave your hair a bit softer.
After you rinse out the mixture, shampoo your hair. Follow up by conditioning it with your regular conditioner.
BAM! Amazingly soft, luxurious, expensive looking hair!!! :)
p.s. I am, in no way affiliated with any coconut oil or sunflower oil companies, I’m just super ecstatic about what it’s done for my hair :)
